Click to ViewSabbatarians correctly observe that the Sabbath day was referred to, as a time system, after the cross but incorrectly conclude this proves Christians were keeping the Sabbath.

The fallacy of this is illustrated by the fact that many Sabbatarians, who do not participate in Halloween, will themselves will refer to it as a time system. They might say, "Our church is having a party for the kids, Halloween night." In the same way, Christians, living in the first century, used the common time systems available to them and referred to the "Day of Pentecost" (Acts 2:1), the days of unleavened bread, (Acts 12:3; 20:6) and the Sabbath. Sabbatarians don't keep all these Jewish feasts and Hanukkah just because they are mentioned in the New Testament!

Many Jewish Holy Days in addition to the Sabbath are mentioned in the New Testament:

A. Sabbatarians better start keeping all these days mentioned after the cross in the New Covenant:

  1. The Day of Pentecost Acts 2:1
  2. The days of unleavened bread: Acts 12:3; 20:6
  3. Days of Purification: Acts 21:26
  4. Animal Sacrifices: Acts 21:26
  5. Circumcision: Acts 16:3
  6. Temple worship: Acts 24:12

B. Sabbatarians better start keeping Hanukkah because it was actually kept by the Jews as well as being mentioned by the Apostle John in John 10:22

  1. "At that time the Feast of the Dedication took place at Jerusalem" John 10:22
  2. Hanukkah (the Feast of Dedication) commemorates the rededication of the Temple altar by Judas Maccabeus on the 25th of Kislev (December) in 164 b.c. (1 Macc. 4:36-59; 2 Macc. 10:6-8; John 10:22). (Harper's Bible Dictionary)
  3. Here is a challenge for Herbert W. Armstrong splinter groups who keep all the Jewish feast days: Why do you not keep Hanukkah???

C. History records that many years after Christ that all the days of the week, the months and the years still continued to be called by their old Jewish names.

D. Referring to the days and seasons does not make them any more Jewish feast days than when Sabbatarians refer to Christmas day, make it the actual Birthday of Christ!

E. Are Sabbatarians worshipping pagan gods by merely referring to the days of the week because they are named after pagan god's???

  1. Sunday = Sun's day
  2. Monday = Moon's day: derived from the Anglo-Saxon monandaeg,
  3. Tuesday = named after the Norse god of war, Tiu, or Tiw
  4. Wednesday = named to honour Odin, or Woden, chief god in Norse mythology.
  5. Thursday = named after Thor, Norse god of thunder.
  6. Friday = Anglo-Saxon frìgedaeg; from Old High German Frìa, a goddess
  7. Saturday = Saturn's day: named in honour of the Roman god Saturn.
