A Manual
of the
Leading Muhammadan Objections
to Christianity.

Reference: Tisdall, W. St. Clair, A Manual of the Leading Muhammadan Objections to Christianity, Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, London, England, 1904, pp. 239.

Background:  This book offers the responses of a Christian scholar—who was familiar with the Qur'an, Muhammad's traditions, and Semitic languages—to the objections of Muslims to the claims of the Bible.  W. St. Clair Tisdall defends the claims of the Lord Jesus Christ, the teachings of the Old and New Testaments, the Holy Trinity, and the necessity of the sacrificial death of our blest Savior.  In addition, he responds to the challenges against the reliability and integrity of the text of the Old and New Testaments.

Qur'anic References:  The references to the Qur'an in Tisdall's book don't often correspond to modern editions of the Qur'an.  Generally, the correct reference occurs within a verse or two of the one given in Tisdall's book. Sometimes, a Qur'an reference is followed by a number in brackets[].  This bracketed number gives the correct verse reference as found in modern editions of the Qur'an.

Non-English Language text:  There are quotations from Arabic, Greek, and Hebrew sources.  These different languages are all encoded in Unicode.  It may be necessary to configure your web browser to visualize this Unicode text.  This site has Unicode Information files for your assistance.  Make sure that your web browser properly displays the Unicode Arabic characters at
